While the military in power in Niger asked the French ambassador in Niamey, the capital of the country, to leave the territory and Paris persists in staying, the authorities cut off water and electricity in embassy and no food deliveries are allowed, multiple social media outlets reported.
According to a report by the agency of the Turkish channel TRT World, the president of the National Support Committee for the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Country (CNSP), Elh Issa Hassoumi Boureima, has asked all partners of the French bases in Niger to suspend any supply of water, electricity and food products.
The same report indicates that the junta warned that all partners who continue to help the French in the process of providing goods and services will be considered "enemies of the sovereign people". This information comes after the two-day deadline granted by the military administration to the French ambassador to leave the country expired on Sunday.
Amid heightened tensions in the weeks following the ousting of democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum, the administration's Foreign Ministry gave Ambassador Sylvain Itté 48 hours to 'leave Nigerien territory' . According to reports, the latter, who is still in Niger after Paris refused to comply with the junta's injunctions, took refuge at the French military base in the capital.
